Crunch to your heart’s content, do any of the thousands of ab workouts out there until you’re blue in the face - it isn’t going to do much for your abs. A lean, tight tummy is all about burning calories and maintaining a lean and healthy body fat percentage. That’s right - no amount of ab workouts will burn away belly fat. You cannot spot target fat-loss. Sad, but true. If you want to lose fat from your midsection, you’re going to have to lose fat from everywhere; ab workouts will help, but the key is to target all all areas of your body and eat right. The best ab workouts involve exercises that work multiple muscle groups. Think bench presses, squats, deadlifts, push-ups - all these exercises require you to engage your core while working your total body. Crunches only work your abs. Here’s another ab reality: Only about 10% of great abs is exercise. The rest is proper nutrition. You want to eat a variety of raw, lean, whole foods and drink plenty of water. You’ll also want to eat every 2-4 hours. Fasting or starving yourself will only stall your metabolism and cause you to store fat. Not cool. So, it’s simple: To get on the fast track to a 6-pack, you’re going to have to eat clean, hydrate and opt for total body workouts.
