In a response to rumours circling that the pop princess and One Direction heartthrob Niall Horan are dating, Ariana Grande took to Twitter with a long essay about female empowerment.
In her post, she addressed the rumour mill along with discussing her former relationship with rapper Big Sean. Ariana claimed she is tired of "living in a world where women are mostly referred to as a man’s past, present or future PROPERTY / POSSESSION." She looks forward to a day when "people are not valued by who they're dating/married to/ attached to/having sex with/seen with...but by their values as an individual."
The post was sparked after the media reported Ariana was seen leaving Niall Horan's house at 3 a.m. last week. She is sick of the media referring to her as "Big Sean's ex" or as Niall's "possible new girl". She wants to be seen for who she is and not defined by whomever she is supposedly linked to.
The 21-year-old songstress attributes her feminist stance to her activist roots. She comes from generations of inspiring woman. Her aunt Judy in particular was the first female Italian American president of the Washington D.C. press club.
Ariana feels better than she ever has before. According to her post, she "never felt more present, grounded, and satisfied. I have never laughed harder or had more fun or enjoyed myself more.” She is enjoying life and her blossoming career without the need for a man to be by her side! You go Ariana!
