Awesome Energy Lifehacks #8: Cut Coffee

This may sound counterintuitive, but the truth is that caffeine is NOT the energy-boosting substance that you think it is! Most people guzzle coffee like it's the last cup on earth, but that coffee won't do anything to stop you from being tired. All it will do is stop your brain from feeling the "tired" signals that your body is sending it, masking the sleepiness that you feel. When the coffee wears off, you'll be sleepier than you were before you drank it. Your brain becomes desensitized to its effects, but it continues to affect your central nervous system--mostly negatively. You have to drink more and more coffee to get that same buzz, but you never have quite as much energy as you want. If you stop drinking coffee, you'll find that the effects are much more noticeable when you finally do settle for a cup of Joe. You'll no longer be overstimulating your central nervous system with that regular coffee intake, meaning you'll naturally have more energy on a daily basis. When you really need coffee, it will work like a charm!
