The Bad Habits Nutritionists Want You To Stop Doing
It seems that everyday there is a new diet trend on the internet which will shatter everything you thought you knew about eating. Well here is the straight truth from registered nutritionists who want you to break these dangerous diet habits for good:
1) STOP Thinking Gluten Free Means Healthy
Countless gluten free products are filled with extra preservatives, sugars and calories to compensate for the lack of gluten.
"Aim for more whole grains that are high in fiber and protein, and worry less about whether they contain gluten.” Abby Sharp, RD, explains.
2) STOP Eating Processed Diet Food
Little "diet" pastries, low calorie "thins" that come in a box or "fat free" yogurts are chemically loaded junk.
"Fat and calories are not the enemy!" says Alexis Joseph, MS, RD, LD. "Eat real food!"
3) STOP Obsessing Over Fad Diets
Finding a way to eat sustainable and healthy is the key to losing weight and feeling great!
"Stop worrying so much about what diet their neighbour is on and, instead, spend that time and energy getting to know their own body and how it reacts to certain foods and dietary patterns." suggests Rachel Begun, MS, RDN, nutritionist and natural chef.
4) STOP Starving and Bingeing
If you're in a rut of starving yourself for half the day and bingeing out on pizza and donuts for dinner, this is a very dangerous habit.
"The solution is to eat adequate, protein-rich meals and snacks—and to stop skipping breakfast." says Abby Langer, RD.
