#BeautyInAllChallenge: The Latest Self-Esteem Movement
It seems like self-esteem selfies are all the rage right now! But unlike the odd nature of the #Don'tJudgeMeChallenge, the #BeautyInAllChallenge actually promotes no-makeup confidence.
The challenge encourages the guys and girls of Instagram to embrace their natural skin by taking a selfie of their untouched, unfiltered faces. The campaign seems to focus on more specific insecurities like dark spots or acne which these bare faces want to reveal without judgement or criticism.
Many people, especially girls, have taken part in the challenge showing their true selves in beaming, beautiful photos. All these movements that have sprung up on social media lately have challenged traditional standards of beauty. With the popularity of real, Photoshop-free beauty, will advertisers take notice?
Some of the participants in the movement are in their preteens, which is wonderful to see kids at such a fragile time in their life be confident enough to defy conventional "beauty" and love their faces.
"Apparently glasses, acne, braces, crooked teeth, etc are not accepted as beautiful. In my opinion it is arrogant and downright hateful to shame people for things they can't control." writes one young teen on her Instagram account. "We are all beautiful in our own way."
