Blast Your Wrinkles and Stretch Marks With Breastmilk!

April 19, 2015 2 min read

When my son was born, I found myself pumping lots and lots. I started an emergency freezer stash of breastmilk to use just in case my milk dried up or my son was unable to latch. DSC_1000 According to La Leche League, storage guidelines for breastmilk in a deep freezer is anywhere between 6-12 months. Anything older, should be discarded. ddd As time went on, we never needed the stash so I donated some, but what was left over was expired. So, I got to researching.. and sure enough, there are plenty of uses for expired breast milk! I hated to see it go to waste so I used up as much as a I could for various things... including skin care! Breastmilk has been found to be super beneficial for:
  • Eczema
  • Rash
  • Skin Cleanser
  • Bee and wasp stings
  • Chapped lips
  • Poison ivy
  • Dry skin
  • Diaper rash
  • Minor cuts and scrapes
  • Clogged tear ducts
  • Rosacea
  • Burns
Why? Due to the antibodies found in breast milk, specifically IgA, the liquid helps prevent germs from growing on the site of injury. According to University of California San Diego scientist, Dissaya Pornpattananangkul, lauric acid can help treat teenage acne, reports the Telegraph. So, I decided to give breastmilk ice facials a try. Lo and behold, my wrinkles and stretch marks started to fade away within a few weeks. Though this may be pretty gross to some, I have actually noticed the redness in my facial tone disappear since I have started doing this. I swear by it!

The best way to do this is to fill an ice cube tray with breast milk. When you are ready to use, pop a cube out and apply to your face. If your milk is stored in actual storage bags, like mine, just thaw a bit and pop the frozen milk upward, using the bag as a sleeve-sort of like a "popsicle."
