Booty Busting Series--Best Exercises to Build that Butt #7: Sumo Deadlift

The deadlift is an exercise that targets your lower back, but it hits your glutes and hamstrings nicely as well. The Sumo Deadlift in particular is very good for your glutes, as you squat slightly as you lower the weight. When you stand back up, you'll feel the burn in your glutes and lower back. This is an exercise to do with EXTREME caution. The fact that you're lifting heavy weights with your lower back means that there's a higher risk of injury. Sumo Deadlift

Spread your feet beyond shoulder width apart, with your toes pointed slightly outward. Grip a barbell in both hands, and bend forward to lower the weight. As you are bending forward, squat slightly until your knees are directly over your ankles. You should use your back to lift the weight, but let your hips and glutes do some of the work as well. Keep your body behind the bar, and thrust your hips forward as you stand up. Repeat as desired!
