Britney Spears' life has been a long series of ups and downs, mountains and valleys. As it would seem though as she starts her semi-retirement in Las Vegas...she's come full circle. The critics have been raving about her show and although it doesn't feature all the old outfits concert goers wanted to see, the fire and mysticism makes up for it. One reviewer
called the sets 'exquisite' while another cited all the glorious 'razzle-dazzle.'
According to USA Today, 'It was nonstop club tracks anchored to exquisite sets and dazzling choreography. 'One could almost make the argument that this show might entertain a non-Britney fan because of its production values, which is likely not the case with other residencies - if you don't care for Elton John, not even a $10 million piano would keep you seated for his Vegas hit parade.' The LA Times described the show as marrying 'the elaborate razzle-dazzle of old-school Las Vegas entertainment with the jackhammering beats of today’s electronic dance music.'
It's abundantly clear from the concert pictures that Britney has been working on her fitness, or maybe it's all that dancing in rehearsals and shows that has been her secret. Through her troubled time, noteably 2007 and the shaved head incident, Britney has never been marked as "too skinny" or had anorexia rumors flying about like pesky flies. She's been acutely aware that a curvaceous body is what is necessary for her sexy shows.
Britney has come full circle from her Disney days where she was a great role model for little girls, she is now continuing to prove that she's a great mom and that however much she struggled mentally and emotionally from breakups and bad marriages, she's still her and she's still able to wow the crowds.
In a 2007 article from ABC News
regarding Britney's head shaving incident and short stint in rehab the general consesus was that she needed a break from Hollywood and that shaving her head was her own way of starting over, starting fresh, and removing the people who had shaped and molded her out of her life. And now with rave reviews about her new show and a two year long residency it's clear that Britney has come back from rock bottom. It's not impossible, even if your lowest point is splayed all over the world's media.
One would hardly remember the young woman going through a bitter custody battle and suffering because of it when confronted with this self assured woman gracing the stage in Las Vegas.
