What Can Looking At Your Tongue Reveal About Your Health?

We all know that your tongue has an important job of detecting taste, and is a powerful muscle. But textural changes and discolourations of the tongue are huge clues into your body's overall health. Here's how to find out what your tongue is trying to tell you! Canker Sores: These tiny ulcers which pop up on the underside of the tongue can be a sign of excessive stress. Bumps: Bumps on the tongue can be a sign of infection or an allergic reaction. They could present themselves before the rest of the body shows any symptoms. White Tongue: Often a white tongue can be a telltale sign of dehydration, so fill up on H2O. Black Tongue: This darkly coloured tongue can be caused by heavy smoking, or a reaction to antibiotics. As with white tongue, brushing and cleaning the muscle properly can clear off discolouration. Yellow Tongue: Like white tongue, it may be just caused by a lack of water. But in severe cases the yellow tongue can be a sign of liver problems. Smoothness: If your tongue feels unnaturally smooth, it is most likely inflammation. This issue can be triggered by a deficiency in Vitamin B and Iron. Take a careful look at your diet for answers. Have a look at your tongue and see what it's trying to tell you!
