Cindy Crawford Celebrates Daughter Kaia Gerber's Editorial Debut In Vogue
There is absolutely little doubt that Kaia Gerber inherited some beautiful genes.
The 13 year old daughter of Cindy Crawford was just signed a modeling contract with IMG Models and made her editorial debut in Vogue Italia.
Crawford shared one of the shots on Instagram with the caption: 'Guess I better watch my back... Love this shot of @KaiaGerber by #StevenMeisel for @VogueItalia!'
This is Gerber's first 'adult' modelling gig but she isn't a stranger to posing for the cameras. In 2012 she was the face of Versace's child line. In 2005, she modeled children's swimsuits for Melissa Odabash and caused a stir when she was photographed topless with a temporary tattoo on her lower back.
Crawford would have liked Gerber to wait until she was 17 to start in the business. Having begun herself when she was 16, Crawford knows how difficult the industry can be to a young woman. But it seems that Crawford has relented to her child's dream. At last, Gerber has a knowledgeable person to turn to if things get difficult!
13 is mighty young, though. What do you guys think? Is 13 too young to be exposed to an industry that sexualizes just about everything and places a high premium on a very specific standard of beauty? Or, is Gerber, by accident of birth, uniquely qualified to navigate these ins and outs? Would you let your child be a professional model at such a young age?
