Claire Danes: Her Important Message About Body Image

Being one of Hollywood's most glamorous actresses doesn't mean you are free from the struggles of self-esteem and body shaming. 36-year-old Claire Danes may look like she has the world at her feet, but her personal journey to confidence has not been an easy road. "It's just so ingrained in us, the idea that we should take up the right amount of space, literally and figuratively. I've wrestled with this my whole life, as just a person in the world and as somebody who makes images." says Claire. The stunning star has dealt with shaming from the media and from herself. She says it has taken her years to actually accept herself and feel like she was good enough, and she must remind herself of this constantly. [bctt tweet="Claire Danes: Her Important Message About Body Image"] "It's OK to want to look and feel your best. It's OK to work at being attractive, whatever that means to you. And it's also OK to not expect to be defined by that. It's OK to be powerful in every way: to be big, to take up space. To breathe and to thrive." the mother of one explains. "I want to look pretty in the world. But I can be this bottomless pit. I now some of the most beautiful women on the planet-unequivocally, objectively friggin' gorgeous- and they are rife with insecurity and self doubt, and you just think, ''Well how can that be?''" The Homeland actress tries everyday to stay out of that pit and love herself. She starts by eating good things, making workouts fun (like dancing around her kitchen to Reggae) and basking in the love from her 2-year-old son, Cyrus. "I'm attractive enough. I can do the work I want to do. I've found a wonderful man who wants to make out with me. I'm good." Claire says of her personal mantra. What are your own thoughts on body image issues?
