Fear can influence our lives in big ways. Physiologically, it does a number of things in the body to trigger a fight or flight response. Fear can lull us into comfort and routine in our daily lives. It can make us complacent and lazy. It is time to use fear as a motivator. Don't get me wrong, the comfort of a routine is kind of nice and structure can be good for us. This is why we do things on schedules, we're prone to liking at least some sense of order. Being too comfortable where you are can mean that you fear or resist change. Maybe you want to lose weight but you don't know where to start. It can be overwhelming and daunting to think about making a major shift in your lifestyle. In fact, it is easier to just do nothing. Sure, you're miserable at your current weight but at least you aren't stressing about finding a solution. And if you stay your current weight, you won't need to buy a new clothes and you won't have people complimenting you on the change all the time. I know that drawing extra attention can be nerve wracking but it should cause you to do nothing.
Being a little uncomfortable is a good thing. Learning to work through this discomfort is the only thing that will move you forward in life. You may be okay in your state of comfort but think how much happier you could be if you pushed yourself forward to achieve something else. It doesn't have to be a massive, dramatic change at first. Take the weightloss example. Start by making small diet changes. You've been hearing about the benefits of leafy greens so make a deal with yourself. For one week, make yourself healthier dinners that include leafy greens as the star. What you'll find, is that it is easier than you imagined. You can nudge yourself out of comfort. Not everything needs to be done by jumping in with both feet. But working toward a goal can feel absolutely wonderful. Take a moment and look at your life. Is there an area of it where you are so comfortable that some might even call it a rut?It could be any area. Career, relationship, fitness. Think carefully about this area. When you near the end of your days, are you going to be pleased with the decision to do nothing or will you wonder if you could have been more, could have been happier. I want you to live your life free of regret. You may try something new and fail spectacularly. But at least you will know. Show comfort the door and challenge yourself today. I promise you, you'll be glad you did. h/t: Elite Daily
