So why is it any different for other things we put inside of us, like tampons? Furthermore, the bleaching process leaves dioxin inside tampons which is a chemical linked to skin problems and immune system weakening. Added fragrances can cause allergic reactions and irritation. This means companies can get away with using toxic chemicals in their products without consumer knowledge. Some companies like Proctor and Gamble are attempting to improve the information they put out to the public, but we are a long way away from getting a full understanding. Finding a good quality, low risk tampon can be more challenging but it is worth it to preserve your health.
