Day 18: My legs felt like jelly, but it didn't stop me
Whoooo day 18 was a hard one! I managed it with just one tiny break to catch my breath despite my legs feeling like they had turned to jelly, and I'm so proud! My legs now feel like they weigh more than my whole body put together though so I'm pretty sure they will ache tomorrow.
I love the feeling of aching muscles though! DOMS (Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness) is one of my favourite feelings because you know that your body is improving. It lets me know that I've done the best I possibly could in my workout.
I don't own an equalizer yet so I had to improvise today. I used the edge of my bed as, luckily, it has a wooden edge around the mattress so I could hold onto that. Obviously it wasn't as comfortable as an equalizer would've been, but it did the job so I'm happy.
My favourite exercise today was the 1 leg elevated lunge. That seriously pushed me hard! I could already feel it in the first round!
I really don't like the hip thrusts though, it's not because I can't do them or anything like that, as all of you know that if I can't do something it just spurs me on to try even harder. The reason I don't like them is because whenever I have tried to do them they really make my lower back feel odd. I don't know if I'm doing it slightly wrong and I catch a nerve or something, but it feels a little painful...and not in a good way. I tried my best with them still though, I just took it a little lighter on this movement than I did with any of the others.
I'm ready for the good pain to kick in tomorrow though, DOMS I'm ready for you.
I ate well again today:
Breakfast: Porridge
Lunch: Basic avocado salad - 1 avocado, 2 hard boiled eggs and 1/3 cucumber chopped and thrown together in a bowl
Snack: One of my homemade peanut butter cups - the recipe is coming soon
Dinner: Steak with sweet potato and asparagus
I love my basic avocado salad because it's so quick to make due to it only having three ingredients, and it tastes gorgeous!
It would have been very easy for me to look at this workout and just think "oh well, I don't have an equalizer so I will give today a miss", but I didn't, and I hope none of you have either.
Just because we can't afford the 'correct' equipment it doesn't mean that you have to miss out on the workout. Find alternatives like a table edge, a chair...anything sturdy will do. Just don't use it as an excuse to not do this workout.
Excuses are what will stop you from achieving your dream. Don't give up.
