The DeLorean Challenge
If you could jump into the DeLorean and go back in time, what words of wisdom would you give yourself? Would you prevent yourself from getting a DUI or dating the wrong person? Or would you give yourself the wisdom that you have learned about sculpting your body into the powerhouse machine it is today.
I found myself contemplating what I would want to share with the younger me. Although I have no regrets and I believe that everything happens for a reason, I can’t help but think where I would be now if I was able to pull a “Biff” and tell the younger me what I know now.
If I was able to share one line of wisdom with my younger self this would be it.
Attempt and complete a fitness or diet challenge.
I grew up being very active playing soccer my whole life and becoming a cheerleader in college. I have always had a passion for fitness and health and love trying new workouts and diets. At the age of 25 I took on the challenge of The Master Cleanse. I didn’t know at the time but this “cleanse” was going to change my life.
The Master Cleanse for anyone who doesn’t know is a cleanse where you don’t eat for at least 10 days, only drinking a concoction made of lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. You drink laxative tea to detoxify your body.
I had no idea when I started this cleanse that the next 10 days were going to be so hard. On day two I wanted to quit but I couldn’t because I was writing a journal about my journey on the “cleanse” which would later be published in a book. I discussed giving up with my sister and her words kept me going, we come from a long line of woman who never followed through and I didn’t want that to be me. If I said was going to do something I wanted to ACTUALLY complete it.
I ended up finishing the “cleanse” and getting my journal published. What a rewarding feeling it was to finish such a feat. It gave me so much self-confidence, I felt like I could accomplish anything. Ever since I finished The Master Cleanse I have taken on countless fitness and diet challenges and always came out on top and finished with flying colors. I have gone after my dreams and passions because I believe I can accomplish them because I have accomplished so much already.
So if I was Marty McFly and I could go back and tell college version me about completing a fitness or diet challenge I wonder where I might be now...
