Demi Lovato Slays Body Shaming Internet Trolls!
Demi has become synonymous with body positivity. Her very public pursuit to get healthy and overcome her eating disorder has launched into being a role model for young girls.
A few years ago, the former Disney star was living what many fans thought was every girl's dream. She had hit shows, hit songs and a tour with it-band of the moment The Jonas Brothers. But it all came to a crashing halt when she was forced to face the demons that were becoming too big to hide. Demi entered rehab in 2010 for an eating disorder and substance abuse problems.
At only 22, Demi has learned a lot on her journey to self love and body confidence. She is honest and upfront with her insecurities.
"I wasted so many years ashamed of my body when I could've been living the happy and healthy life I live today." Demi said in one post on her Facebook page, showing photos of how her body has changed throughout the years.
Demi is also not afraid to slay any hater over social media who tries to tear her, or someone else down about any issue of body image.
In this Tweet, Demi took aim at her former employer, Disney Channel, for including an eating disorder joke in a children's show.
Demi has this to say in response to pop singer Meghan Trainor who made an uneducated comment about not having the strength to commit to an eating disorder, as if it were a choice. "There's a wide misconception that anorexia and/or bulimia is a choice and you often hear people say things like "why doesn't she just start eating?" Or even "just stop throwing up." It's the ignorance and lack of education on mental illnesses that continues …"
Demi had this to say to a barrage of malicious tweeters trying to bring her down. "There’s nothing more upsetting and hurtful than people having no regards to someone’s private life and using the web to bring people down. I’m not a celebrity, I’m an artist & most importantly human."
We love Demi's positivity, and the strong, educated and elegant way she shuts down haters and promotes acceptance! Share your thoughts on Miss Lovato! Tell us about a time you shut down a hater!
