Exclusive Nude Shots Of Marilyn Monroe To Be Displayed At Exhibition

In 1949, a 22-year-old Marilyn was struggling to find work and make money. Her contracts with big name companies had fallen through, and modelling was her only option. She agreed to a naked photoshoot for which she made a meagre $50. "I want you to promise me that you will take the pictures so that I wouldn't be recognizable in them." Marilyn begged the photographer, feeling ashamed of her desperate choice. Soon after the shoot, Marilyn's career was on the rise. She starred alongside Bette Davis in All About Eve, and was becoming a household name. As for the photos, they were printed to a publication called Golden Dreams calendar. In 1952, the media came across the racy pictures and quickly speculated the model was Marilyn. 20th Century has just signed the actress to a 7-year-contract and wanted her to deny the rumours, but she defied their wishes and told the truth. She publicly admitted the photos were of her, and that they were taken when she was struggling and desperate. She was greeted with sympathy, and soon the infamous photos were sold to Playboy. vintage pin up The now iconic images have been mimicked countless times, just like many of Marilyn's photographs. It was thought that the authentic colour separations were lost forever (colour separations are used to ensure that the proper hues present in the raw photo are represented in the final print). But the 21 originals were uncovered and will now be displayed for the first time in a travelling exhibition called LimitedRuns, proving that Marilyn's legend will live on for years to come.
