Fashion Blogger Photoshop Faux Pas
Dana Suchow, the fashion blogger and creator of the site Do The Hot Pants, recently posted a series of photographs from her site under the caption “Photos I Wish I Didn’t Photoshop”. She reveals that some of the photos from her site have been Photoshopped, showing the before and after photos. But before she does, she points out the purpose of her post:
I love this because:
A) It was BRAVE. Seriously, fashion is an industry that seems to value perfection above anything else, so for a fashion blogger to come clean and show her imperfections – however small – is a big deal.
B) Without the big red arrows I probably wouldn’t have noticed a difference – which goes to show that we are our own worst critiques, and shouldn’t beat ourselves up about our “flaws” as much as we do.
C) The response was so huge, not only were people commenting and sharing the story, but fashion website SheKnows did an interview with Suchow about the Photoshopped images, which sheds even more light onto the use of Photoshop and beauty standards.
1. NOT EVERYTHING IS REAL.
2. DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS.
3. LOVE YOURSELF FOR WHO YOU ARE.
4. EVEN PEOPLE YOU LOOK UP TO ARE FLAWED.
AND
5. YOU ARE A UNIQUE GODDAMN SNOWFLAKE SO NEVER FORGET THAT!!!!!!!!!!
