Fat-Burning Step Stool Workout

January 10, 2015 3 min read

"Getting fit is so expensive!" If I had a nickel for everytime I heard this, I would be such a rich girl. I hear this complaint daily when it comes to the costs of gym equipment, gym classes,  and gym memberships. But what most women (and men) do not realize is that you really do not need a gym to be or get fit! I have created a step stool workout that you can do anywhere. And as a bonus, the step stool can go anywhere with you, too! I got mine from Wal-Mart for about $10 and never imagined that I would be using it as part of my workout routine. IMG_3450 Fat-Burning Step Stool Workout 10 Standing Hip Extensions IMG_3433
  • Stand with your legs shoulder width apart and hold onto a table, step stool, or chair in front of you for support.
  • Keeping your knee straight and toes pointed, and kick your leg backward slowly.
  • Return to the starting position and repeat with opposite leg.
10 Elevated Hip Thrusts IMG_3437
  • With head on floor and heels on a bench or step, raise hips off the ground using buttock and hamstrings until the hips are level with the thighs.
  • Lower slowly either right to the ground or leave the hips just off the ground.
10 Step Ups IMG_3440
  • Stand up straight. Place the right foot on the elevated platform.
  • Step on the platform by extending the hip and the knee of your right leg. Use the heel mainly to lift the rest of your body up and place the foot of the left leg on the platform as well. Breathe out as you execute the force required to come up.
  • Step down with the left leg by flexing the hip and knee of the right leg as you inhale. Return to the original standing position by placing the right foot of to next to the left foot on the initial position.
  • Repeat with the right leg for the recommended amount of repetitions and then perform with the left leg.
10 Chair Squats IMG_3438
  • Plant your feet flat on the ground, about shoulder-width apart. Point your feet slightly outward, not straight ahead..
  • Look straight ahead. Bend at your knees, keeping your heels on the floor. Use the step stool bars for support.
  • Pull in your abs, and keep your lower back in a near neutral position.Tighten your whole body when you perform the squat.
  • Lower yourself. In a controlled manner slowly lower yourself down and back so that your upper legs are nearly parallel with the floor. Extend your arms for balance. Keep the upper body tight at all times.
10 Decline Push Ups IMG_3442
  • Kneel on floor with bench or elevation behind body. Position hands on floor slightly wider than shoulder width.
  • Place feet on bench or elevation. Raise body body in plank position with body straight and arms extended.
  • Keeping body straight, lower upper body to floor by bending arms.
  • To allow for full descent, pull head back slightly without arching back. Push body up until arms are extended. Repeat.
10 Abdominal Cross Over Kicks IMG_3449
  • Get into a decline push up position with hands on the floor and both feet propped up on the stool.
  • Taking your right leg, kick over to the left side of your body. Bring your foot back to the stool.
  • Repeat with opposite leg, kicking over to the right side of the body.
10 Step Hops IMG_3448
  • Get into a decline push up position with hands on the floor and both feet propped up on the stool.
  • When you are ready to hop, bring both feet down on the floor, right in front of the stool.
  • In another swift motion, hop both feet right back up onto the stool. Repeat.
10 Tricep Dips IMG_3447
  • Position your hands shoulder-width apart on a secured bench or stable chair. Slide your butt off the front of the bench with your legs extended out in front of you.
  • Straighten your arms, keeping a little bend in your elbows to keep tension on your triceps and off your elbow joints.
  • Slowly bend your elbows to lower your body toward the floor until your elbows are at about a 90-degree angle. Be sure to keep your back close to the bench.
  • Once you reach the bottom of the movement, press down into the bench to straighten your elbows, returning to the starting position. This completes one rep.
  • Keep your shoulders down as you lower and raise your body. You can bend your legs to modify this exercise.

Shipping & Delivery

Due to COVID-19, shipping systems the world over are experiencing abnormal delays. There is an enormous demand on postal and delivery services as online shopping has skyrocketed, due to store closures and stay-at-home mandates. This is an unprecedented situation, and we are working around the clock to fulfill your orders as quickly as possible. To be clear, we are filling orders in 4-6 days, and we are shipping immediately after that. Once shipped, our shipping partner, UPS, will get your order out to you as quickly as possible. Thanks for your support and understanding.

Are you in Canada? Specifically, are you outside of a metropolitan centre? We need to alert you to a disruption in shipping due to COVID-19. Our preferred shipping provider, UPS, has informed us that they cannot guarantee express shipping for many locations. We have also seen that packages delivered to Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, etc, are not waylaid, but packages delivered to areas just outside of these cities are being held in transit for days or even weeks. UPS has discontinued their guarantee of 1-4 day delivery, which you can read more about here. Therefore, we can guarantee early fulfillment but not early delivery of our goods from our warehouse to your door at this time.

We want you to start your fitness journey with us as quickly as possible, that’s why we send every package to the USA & Canada via expedited or standard shipping with our partners at UPS. Once your order is received and processed, it typically takes 2-4 days to get to you once it leaves our warehouse. That’s our commitment and we stand by it.

We ship within Canada and the United States via UPS with Standard & Expedited shipping (whichever is faster)

For locations outside of the US and Canada, we ship using FedEx International (EUROPE and Other Nations), which is usually in transit for 7-10 business days, depending on location.

We ship all of our physical products with UPS, from our warehouse location in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Delays caused due to custom withholds are not included in these estimated delivery times.

Returns & Exchanges

BodyRock Equipment

We offer a 30-day return policy, as long as: it is not more than 30 days past the date of delivery; and your item is in its original condition and packaging with the original order number. Refunds will be issued when the equipment is received back to the BodyRock warehouse, minus the original cost of shipping, and the customer is responsible for the costs of return shipping. To request a refund on physical product purchases, please contact us.

Digital Products

We cannot issue refunds on digital goods such as e-books or videos, as these are non-tangible goods that are irrevocable once the order is placed.

All of the BodyRock clothing is made to order and so is final sale. If you have any questions about sizing prior to placing your order, please contact us.
