FAT! “What’s love got to do with it?!”
What could the concept of LOVE possibly have to do with that cellulite you constantly cringe at, those love handles (you aggressively squeeze with angst), and those thighs that you continue to correlate with super-stormy weather conditions (i.e. thunder)?
EVERYTHING. Love has absolutely everything to do with it.
I personally believe that at the root of self-sabotage (and we all do this, in one way or another, from time to time), lies a genuine lack of self-respect, self-love, and self-realization.
When I work with my clients on their Nutrition / Health matters, I never focus solely on what is and isn’t entering their bodies each day. While this is important it’s, in my opinion, only one part of the refined sugar-free pie;)
I like to request a willingness in people to dig deeper. I often help them delve right into the HEART of the matter. As a result, I’ve observed something pretty fantastic; I’ve noticed that the people who are willing to work on building greater awareness (into their own personal patterns of self-sabotage), are the ones who achieve the most success (in terms of achieving their weight and health goals).
People eat for SO many different reasons; and the choice to eat for the sake of legitimate hunger is only ONE of these reasons.
People eat when they feel sad, in an attempt to fill the void. People eat when they’re angry, to suppress what they’ve always been taught is never “ok” to let out.
People eat when they’re lonely and thus make food their friend. People eat and eat and eat, and get fatter and fatter and fatter, so that (subconsciously) they can become unattractive (this way, they won’t risk being loved, and thus, they won’t risk of getting hurt).
People eat in extremes (extremely restrictive diets), so that they can create a sense of being in “control”, because nothing else in their lives has ever felt safe and trustworthy.
People eat when they’re feeling anxious so they can avoid facing their fear.
People eat for so many reasons, all of which continue to both inspire my work, while simultaneously, breaking my heart.
Do you ever eat when you’re not hungry? Do you ever, for example, find yourself putting food in your mouth (without even consciously remembering making the decision to eat that particular food?) Do you ever just eat, in other words, as if in autopilot? As if something else, is controlling you?
If so, I assure you, you’re not alone! Nor are you weird or broken. You're actually amongst the majority.
The great news is there is tremendous opportunity here for you to grow, change, and become exactly who it is you want to be.
It all begins with you fully accepting yourself exactly as you are, right here, right now, in this moment (as your read this!).
We all have these voices in our heads, you know the ones, the ones that tell you one million times a day that you’re imperfect, flawed, not “enough.” And you know what? It’s time these voices got SHUT-DOWN.
So, when you hear “your” voices, and you will, observe them (without reacting!), and then immediately and confidently declare back to them, “I am beautiful. I love and accept myself exactly as I am.”
All of the "ideas" that keep you from reaching your “ideal” weight, you see, are likely rooted in fear.
Do you eat your fears? Do you feel you deserve to be all the things you want to be?
Whatever it is that you want, I’m here to tell you, you absolutely deserve it.
XO! Teshia
