Fight Breast Censorship With A Male Nipple
If you're tired of having your topless pics removed from social media, a very clever mind has come up with a creative solution that may work for you.
Try using images of male nipples to cover up your breasts.
The idea was founded by the artist Micol Hebrob. She first posted the following image last June in order to protest Facebook and Instagram's anti-female nipple policies:
She was clearly, and understandably, frustrated by the way the female nipple was sexualized and considered inappropriate while the male nipple was not.
Since her original post, the idea has gone viral and women are using her 'male' nipple to make their own statements.
Have a look:
The Ukrainian feminist group Femen weighed in on the subject with a topless protest of their own:
And the Free The Nipple campaign attempts to desexualize the nipple by encouraging women to go topless. Miley Cyrus and Rumer Willis have been proponents of the movement for some time.
When it comes to the topic of nudity, Instagram says they do not allow it and that “this includes photos, videos, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks. It also includes some photos of female nipples, but photos of post-mastectomy scarring and women actively breastfeeding are allowed.”
Facebook takes a similar view. “We restrict some images of female breasts if they include the nipple,” they say, “but we always allow photos of women actively engaged in breastfeeding or showing breasts with post-mastectomy scarring.”
Looks like the male nipple is all we get. For now...
How do you feel about this topic? Should the nipple stay under wraps or should it be set free once and for all?
