Healthy Doesn't Have To Mean Size 0

A time old question, why are we so body obsessed? As women we are bombarded consciously and unconsciously on a daily basis on what an IDEAL woman should look like. Super skinny runway models with ribs perturbing (as if that is sexy) on billboards, TV, Movies and magazines. It is no wonder we are all constantly striving to be perfect. The perfect Mom, the perfect wife, the perfect sports mom, church goer, cookie maker, cook, being the "cool" mom, wearing the best clothes, sporting the newest Pandora item. You exhausted yet just from reading this? I know I am. Been there done that! Until I turned 30 something and found myself in the emergency room hooked up to monitors - I was spent, almost green in colour as if all the life was draining out of me and that is when a light bulb went off. I had Anemia. Who was I trying to impress and why? Why wasn't I good enough just being me? Why did I feel like I had to prove anything to anyone but myself? Why was I exercising for hours on end to get a figure I was NEVER genetically capable of acquiring? I am now 40 something and I wish I could go back and shake up (no slap) my younger self and just get over all the hoopla and start enjoying life. I would tell my younger self to smile more, be more laid back, go with the flow, not cringe over spilled milk, not stress over the stretch marks or my baby belly. Be healthy yes of course but do so while being content, not critical. Well, I just had my physical done, including an internal ultrasound, pap, mammogram, 5 vials of blood work, urine, thyroid ultrasound. & guess what?  I am healthy and I am not "perfect"!! Hallelujah ..... You can be a size 8 (or whatever) be happy AND healthy. AND you don't have to be perfect at everything. You will make mistakes you will fail at somethings (and that's ok) you will have to fight to stay healthy (whatever that means to you) but more importantly you must enjoy your life, you must enjoy the journey you must not take everything so seriously and you must take care of yourself first.....PERIOD! We all know what foods are good for us and which ones are bad, and for whatever reason you don't know -  then start to educate yourself. Knowledge is power. You do NOT have to be a size 0 to be happy! You just need to be a healthy "you", inside and out. Do you follow us on Instagram?
