Healthy Substitutes for when you are craving Chocolate

We all have our vices on what we crave and have an uncontrollable urge for. Today’s discussion is around chocolate. Sure you can tell yourself all the benefits of chocolate and why you should be eating it:
  • I heard it helps you maintain a healthier heart…
  • I heard it helps with stress management and reduction…
  • I heard it increases my cognitive IQ…
  • I hear it’s a great aphrodisiac …
  Whatever your excuse may be, if this is your vice you will likely be unable to stop at a healthy amount of “one bit”, “one square”, whatever you may have. So rather than chosing a chocolate bar, brownie platter, or another version of hard to control foods why not substitute for one of the following:  
  • One cup of unsweetened Almond Milk – Chocolate flavor (I personally love LOVE this)
  • Frozen chocolate banana/strawberries – just drizzle with a little bit of dark chocolate and plunk into freezer/fridge.
  • Homemade chocolate protein pudding – use some greek yogurt and mix in A) scoop of chocolate protein powder or B) 1 tbsp of cocoa powder. Stir and eat – or if craving in a ice cream format plunk this into the freezer until ice cream consistency is reached.
