How Many Calories Do You Burn Standing At Work?
Those of us that have desk jobs roll their eyes when we mention that sitting too long has been firmly established as dangerous to your health. We get it. It's not our fault we sit in front of a computer all day. However, that's why more and more 9-to-5ers have been spending a little more time off their chairs or using standing desks. Even if you do nothing else at all, replacing an hour or two of sitting with standing at your desk can help burn a few extra calories over your basal metabolic rate (the amount of calories you burn when you're not doing anything). Not only does this help your health, just a that small change can help you burn a pretty satisfying number of calories.
We went on over to JustStand.org and did the calculations on a 130lb person. The results are pretty awesome!
Next time you're in front of your desk, get up for a while. Your health and waistline will thank you.
