How To Spot The First Warning Signs Of Breast Cancer
It is often thought that a lump is the initial sign that something is amiss. But there can be earlier signals that can lead to detection and treatment of this disease. Some symptoms won't show up even in a mammogram, so it's important to know what to look for and when you should contact your doctor. Here are a list of the lesser known warning signs of breast cancer:
1) A change in look or feel of your breast. This can be a change in the size, warmth, colour or the shape.
2) A change in the look and feel of your nipple or unusual nipple discharge. The discharge can be bloody or clear, and it can also be caused by an infection. In neither case, it should be checked by a doctor.
3) A hard lump within your breast or underarm area. It should be noted that not all lumps are cancerous, but all should be checked out ASAP.
4) A dimpling or puckering texture on the breast that is similar to that of an orange peel.
5) Scaliness, itchiness and irritation on the nipple.
6) A retraction of the nipple or other areas of the breast.
Women over 40 should have regular check-ups to ensure optimal health. You should immediately consult with your doctor if any of the above symptoms occur.
