Important Health Reasons Why You Need to Look at Your Vagina Regularly
Looking at your vagina may be a great way to get to know your body, but there are also health reasons to have a look down there.
Take a mirror and have a good inspection of your lady parts. Not to scare you, but you may find lesions, bumps, moles or blisters you wouldn't necessarily see or feel otherwise. It's good to make note of changes in your discharge too, as all of these concerns should lead you to the ob-gyn office.
Using a hand mirror, stand in the bathroom with one foot on the edge of the bathtub or toilet seat. You should be able to get a good view of all the areas: your labia majora (your larger outer vaginal lips), your labia minora (the thinner inner lips), your clitoral hood, your perineum which is located between your vagina and your rectum and your urethra (a.k.a pee hole). You should also be able to see your vaginal opening and your anus.
It's best to check things out at least once every 2 weeks, especially if you have any concerns, had any past issues and of course if you're sexually active. Birth control and certain feminine products like wipes or soaps can throw your lady parts out of whack too.
