Is Sugar To Blame For An Increased Risk Of Breast Cancer?

Breast cancer is a disease that affects the lives of countless women. You probably know among your friends and family at least one person who has battled breast cancer. It is essential for women of all ages to take the risks seriously and get tested regularly for this life-threatening disease. While the world waits on a cure, the cause of breast cancer might just be linked to a common element in our daily diets - sugar.   A study by The University of Texas has discovered that high quantities of fructose (found in table sugar and high-fructose corn syrup) can lead to tumour growth in the body. Namely, breast cancer tumours. It has also been shown to increase the rate in which cancer spreads from one part of the body to another. We all know that sugar is far too prevalent in the average person's diet and can cause many health complications such as weight gain, heart disease and liver problems. Americans get between 10 and 25 percent of their daily caloric intake from added sugar. This sugar is added to food products like bread, soft drinks, fruit juice and cereal. Consuming vast amounts of sugar certainly isn't doing the body good, so how can we break our sugar dependency?   Start by reading labels carefully to spot how much sugar has been added to your food. Cutting sugar cold-turkey could lead to a binge-eating relapse, so take it slow. Eat consistent, healthy meals rich in protein and omega-3 fats.
