Jennifer Lopez has been the talk of the town for years, and now is no exception. The mother of 7-year-old twins Max and Emme, she is looking more radiant than ever.
Every picture that's popped up recently of the 46-year-old celebrity shows her looking toned, taught and sporting a wrinkle-free golden glow. So what's this sexy star's secret to looking so fine these days?
Lopez claims she keeps away from alcohol. "I think that ruins your skin. Of course, during celebratory toasts, everybody's like, 'You can't toast with water!' So I'll toast with alcohol and just take a sip," the bombshell says.
So should we all put down that glass of wine to achieve Lopez's perfect features? Jill S. Waibel, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist practicing in Miami, weighs in. “The consumption of alcohol is one of the most common triggers for rosacea flare-ups, causing skin to be inflamed, red, and sensitive,” she explains.
Another side effect of alcohol is dehydration, which along with simply being unhealthy for your overall well-being, does, in fact, have an effect on the appearance of your skin's youthful longevity. “Hydration is key when it comes to maintaining healthy skin,” Waibel says.
But don't ditch your favorite drink just yet. Waibel says that not all alcohol is created equal when it comes to the toll it can take on your skin. She suggests pushing aside any drink that is high in sugar, such as fruity drinks or margaritas, which can create fine lines and wrinkles.
And if you're just not ready to give up your cocktails just yet, Waibel says the best thing for you is to indulge in moderation, and always sip on water while you booze to keep hydrated.
