When Is Your Jungle Hour?
The jungle is a wild place. Wild animals, There are no rules, Circle of life, Outrageous bugs, The jungle is never predictable. As a trainer and a person who has struggled to keep my weight in check, I found that we all have a "Jungle Hour". It's one of the first things that I explain to my clients--you have to watch out for your Jungle Hour. Everyone has an hour or two of the day when temptations are far worse than any other time. During this jungle hour, we want to eat, drink, or run to the store for any sweet or salty thing we can think of. The most common hours of the day for Jungle Hour are: 3:00 PM or 8:00 PM Yet I've had people say that it's donut hour at work at 10:00 in the morning, or lunch time meetings. No matter when it is, it's important to be aware of it. For whatever reason, this time is your body's way of telling you that it's getting tired and just wants quick energy. Here are a few ways to keep the Jungle Hour under control: 1. First rule is to know when your jungle hour is! Most common times are 10:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 8:00 PM. 2. Never be without a pre-made snack during this time! Make your snack well before jungle hour and keep it at hand! 3. Get up and get busy...do not get bored during jungle hour! Whatever you do, don't be unprepared. And don't ever bring the entire bag of chips to your desk...or the entire box of cookies...Remember there are no rules in the jungle. For whatever reason during jungle hour, your brain no longer cares about the rules of serving size. When is your Jungle Hour? Let us know when it's your worst time of day! XO, Tessa
