David says, "when my dad was poorly and he died I put a lot of weight on. After he died I decided it was time to get myself back together and get in the gym. I started working out three weeks after he died and with each week I could see and feel the benefits."
Now down to 147 pounds, his transformation is nothing short of incredible.
David went from spending $28 a day on fast food, to hitting the gym every day and eating 3,300 calorie diet. Where a typical day once included bacon, KFC dinners, chocolate, potato chips and anything he could find in his cupboards, his meals are now dramatically different. Now he eats things like oats, eggs and blueberries for breakfast, chicken, sweet potato and broccoli for lunch and salmon and white potatoes for dinner. He ditched all processed junk foods in favor of rice cakes and almond butter with fruit, turkey and rice, protein shakes and desserts of cottage cheese and nuts. Folks at the gym began to encourage him to try out for bodybuilding competitions. Only 15 months into his new lifestyle, David finished 7th in a Britain-wide bodybuilding contest which led to a slew of modelling offers. "I have to confess, it's strange being asked to model when I look at photos of myself from two years ago," David said. "But I'm not complaining. It's nice to get a bit of attention now and then." David will be competing in his second competition in May and hopes for a top three finish. He is proud of his journey, and rightfully so! "In a way, getting fat was a good thing, because I wouldn't be doing the stuff I am now without it," he explains. "I didn't set out to compete in bodybuilding or do modelling, I just set out to get my body in shape and feel better but once I got going I kept reassessing my goals. I feel amazing now. I'm just happy to be happy and it's great being able to feel good about myself." What an inspirational story!
