Kate Upton does not have her body without a lot of work and effort. In an interview with the London Evening Standard, the 22 year old reveals exactly what she eats to keep her body bikini ready. On a "good day," Kate has "a breakfast of scrambled eggs (one white, one whole) with spinach and green tea at 7 a.m.; a snack of ten raw almonds and a green juice at 10 a.m.; a lunch of quinoa with herb-crusted grilled chicken and grilled vegetables; a protein bar at 4 p.m.; and dinner at 7 p.m.," which is "usually sashimi or a kale salad with grilled salmon and cashews. But before a big shoot or film scene, she undertakes a 48-hour juice cleanse." "For me it's about being strong, having the strength to work ten-hour days, and eating healthily," she says. She's not without her cheat days, she is human. She says she likes "fried salty food" over sweets and will allow herself that occasional indulgence in alcohol. "I like a theme night out, like Tequila Tuesday," she says. Although she gets heaps of praise for not being the size zero runway standard, she reveals in the interview that she is often "body shy." "Well, I am and I'm not at the same time," she explains. "Every person has insecurities. But this is the body I was given, I appreciate it and I try to take care of it every day as best I can, but I always enjoy my life. So I'm not going to let my insecurities stop me from enjoying life." That's the key isn't? Appreciating the body you've been given and trying to do right by it. As a curvier women myself, I fully appreciate what Kate Upton brings to the table but I also know that eating like her won't make me look like her. The way this story has gone totally viral disturbs me. We shouldn't ignore her diet revelation but we really should pay more attention to her body loving statements.
