Kate Upton uses social media hate as motivation

You don't have to have a celebrity size following to experience the backlash of negativity and hate on social media. If it's not your jackass neighbour or the cousin that hasn't been around in decades but feels compelled to shoot off her mouth about family situations she knows nothing about, social media can be rife with conflict and bad vibes. We get at least 100 rude comments on our Facebook page a day, and we do our very best to ignore the 'haters' and focus instead on all of the positive comments and connections that our community share. Still, it can get to you, and on certain days the odd comment can get under your skin. Kate Upton has turned the hate into a powerful force of empowerment and motivation. She has close to two million Twitter followers. On Instagram, the same. But Kate Upton said she doesn’t care about people’s comments on social media any longer, in part because they were too hurtful. “I feel like social media at this point is kind of bullshit,” Upton said for her cover story in Edit magazine. “At the beginning it was amazing and a lot of fun.” Screen Shot 2015-03-19 at 4.33.28 PM But what was it about Twitter and Instagram that turned the famous Sports Illustrated Swim cover girl off? “The scrutiny.” “Because I actually cared what people thought. The only thing I do for other people now is cook. That’s the only place in my life where I care what they think.” However, the busty blonde said some of the judgment may be good for her after all.
