Kelly Clarkson on her weight and keeping it real

Kelly Clarkson pushed back  against all of the critics who have been bulling her about her weight for basically her entire career.

“I don’t obsess about my weight, which is probably one of the reasons why other people have such a problem with it,” she says re: her haters.

“There are just some people who are born skinny and with a great metabolism–that is not me. I wish I had a better metabolism. But someone else probably wishes they could walk into a room and make friends with everyone like I can. You always want what someone else has.”

Kelly has an incredible vocal range and is an enduring, shining talent in a fickle industry full of one hit wonders. Mainstream music today is just as likely to reward provocative, hyper-sexualized, pre-recorded performances than it is actual raw, from the heart talent. We love that Kelly won't allow media trolls to sideline her based on their negative perceptions of her body. What’s amazing about Kelly is she doesn’t pretend to be immune to insecurity and jealousy, but she does explain how she keeps these completely normal feelings in check. We’re all going to feel insecure and jealous at various points in our lives, that’s part of being alive and human. What we can’t do, however, is let this negativity drag us down and define us. You go girl!
