Kill it With Cardio #15: Jump Rope

If you've ever walked into a boxing or MMA gym, you've seen full grown men and women jumping rope. It's definitely not just a workout for kids, but it's actually one of the best forms of cardio! The beauty of jumping rope is that you are literally jumping up and down in place. Your calves and legs are doing most of the work, but your core is engaged, your shoulders are tight, and your wrists are keeping the rope moving. It's not quite a full body workout, but it's one of the best forms of cardio you can do!   • Jump at a slow pace, and you'll burn between 450 and 750 calories
  • Jump a bit faster, and you'll burn between 600 and 930 calories
  • Jump at top speed, and you'll burn between 700 and 1,100 calories per hour
Jumping rope is better for your cardio than elliptical training, cycling, and jogging! Definitely worth the effort to improve your coordination and balance.
