Kitchen Cupboard Detox (Part 1)

Want a fresh start with food? I HIGHLY recommend spending a few hours cleaning out your kitchen cupboards. Ditch the obvious stuff that is made of the Top GMO foods like corn and soy then read other labels closely for any fishy ingredients. You will also want to do this mid-grocery shop to make sure you buy the cleanest foods possible. It will take a little getting used to so don’t beat yourself up if it’s not perfect! fridgetips Here is a list of the most toxic ingredients in our food supply: Food Preservatives Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT): a food preservative that products also used in jet fuel and embalming fluid. Found a lot in baked goods like cereals and crackers. Sodium Benzoate: This food preservative has been found to cause children to become measurably more hyperactive and distractible. It is commonly found in many soft drinks, fruit juices and salad dressings Sodium Nitrite: A commonly used preservative in hot dogs, deli meats and bacon, has been linked to higher rates of colorectal, stomach and pancreatic cancers. Avoid cured or processed meats all together! Appearance and Flavour Enhancers Artificial Sweetners: aspartame, acesulfame potassium, sucralose (Splenda) and saccharin are all associated with increased appetite, weight gain and gut disease. They are neurotoxins that over stimulate and attack brain cells. High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS): Loaded with “unbound” fructose and glucose molecules.. this is one of the main reasons why we are so overweight in North America! Because of the way fructose is used by the body, if you consume high amounts of it, it ends up taxing and damaging your liver in the same way alcohol and other toxins do. MSG, Textured soy protein concentrate, carrageenan, maltodextrin, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, modified cornstarch: All of these are basically different names to hide ingredients that either contain Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) or form MSG during processing. MSG and its related products have been linked skin rashes, nausea, migraine headaches, heart irregularities, and even seizures. Keep an eye out for Part 2 of this article!
