Make a sanctuary. Having a place you can step back into out if the pressures of the world is one of the most important gifts you can give yourself. It's doesn't have to be anything fancy - just a quiet, peaceful place you can visit or sit in to have a cup of tea and gather your thoughts. I've had some unlikely places... - In Prague it was this little tiny laundry room in our house. It smelled like fabric softener and I could close the door and re-group. - In Victoria BC it was the side deck overlooking the ocean. I have a friend that sits in his car and reclines the seat with a coffee to go. The point is that you don't need candles and a meditation mat. You just need a place that speaks to you, that feels peaceful. I suggest unplugging, disconnecting and logging off. No calls, no texts, no social. Play music if you like, but honestly just give yourself a break. Feel safe and grounded. Give yourself the gift of sanctuary. It's important that we take care of ourselves and balance our efforts towards reaching our goals and striving to be better with peaceful rest. Where is your sanctuary?
