Miranda Kerr GQ Follow Up
Miranda Kerr’s GQ photoshoot with photographer Mario Testino sparked some controversy because of the racy photos, as well as Kerr’s openness about her sex life. It was controversial enough for two Australians to recreate the shoot with a twist.
Dom Nader and Adrian Archer are the minds behind Bondi Hipsters, a comedic webseries about two hipsters trying to make it in the fashion industry. They recreated all of the shots in Miranda Kerr’s May 2014 GQ shoot, but replaced her with the bearded and tattooed Dom Nader. They even replaced Kerr’s sexual sound bites with ones of their own.
This recreation reveals a bit about the industry’s representation of, and attitude towards, women. It also calls out the bizarre double standard between men and women when it comes to sexualization. Other than that, it’s also just a really fun idea.
