Morgan Freeman opened up about being an advocate for legalizing marijuana last week by saying “pot is very useful.” At 77, Freeman is a long time user who was introduced to it by his first wife. “I’ll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it! This movemen is really a long time coming, and it’s getting legs – longer legs,” he said. Freeman was in a car accident 7 years ago. He had to be pulled from the car by the jaws of life and taken to the hospital with a shattered left shoulder, arm and elbow. It took a 4 hours surgery to repair the nerves. To this day, Freeman has not regained full use of his left hand and wears a yellow compression glove to prevent blood pooling. He explained to the Daily Beast that
marijuana has many useful uses. I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana. They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life. That right there, to me, says, ‘legalize it across the board!’ And what negative effects does it have? Look at Woodstock 1969. They said, ‘we’re not going to bother them or say anything about smoking marijuana,’ and not one problem or fight. Then look at what happened in ’99.He is, of course referencing the less weed friendly 30th anniversary concert that resulted in riots and several arrests. What do you think? Is marijuana useful for medicinal purposes only? Should it, as Freeman says be legal across the board? Or, would you like to see it continue to stay an illegal substance?
