Naomi Watts has sent a dangerous -- though honest -- precedent for herself prior to awards ceremonies, saying that she's usually "starved" herself in the days leading up to the events ... and though Naomi might generally have a good head on her shoulders, this is a miserable reality to cop to when leading the example for women in Hollywood.During a red carpet interview with
Ryan Seacrest, Naomi says, "I’m hungry on days like today because you usually have starved yourself."
While she's probably (?) exaggerating, it's not a hard thing to visualize ... and coming from someone who appears to be naturally very slender as it is, it's worrisome -- because it's not so hard to tread from "very slender" to emaciated. It wouldn't take much "starvation" to pull that off.
This is not the kind of paradigm we need from the strong, leading women of Hollywood. We expect it from the vapid and the self-obsessed, but not from upstanding women like Naomi Watts.
Does Naomi need to be ashamed of herself? Or is she just being honest? How many of the Hollywood women starve themselves DAYS leading up to the Oscars? I can see wanting to look your best and not look bloated on screen as millions watch, but this is taking it a bit too fat. And as the article says - we don't need this from upstanding women in Hollywood!
