Need Body Confidence Inspiration? #ProjectWomanKIND Might Be Just What You Need

It is about time women start being kind to themselves. Plus size model Jessica Vander Leahy agrees which is why she created a new web series #ProjectWomenKIND. Vander Leahy says she was inspired to start this project after receiving emails from young girls asking for body confidence advice. "Body image is something that is obsessed over, especially in the west," Leahy said. "But it seems like such a one-dimensional conversation a lot of the time. I wanted to create something where women could talk about the natural highs and the lows they might go through on the journey to accepting themselves — physically, emotionally, everything." womankind She didn't tackle this project all by herself. She recruited fellow plus size models Stefania Ferrario, Olivia Langdon, Sophie Sheppard, and Margaret MacPherson for the web series. The series includes personal interviews with each woman where she discusses working in the fashion industry, her own body image struggles and the difficulties of remembering that beauty doesn't have a one size definition. "These days, my mid-20s, I love my body, but it's taken a really long time to get to this stage," MacPherson said in her interview. "I think growing into a woman at that stage where everything is growing and developing is really hard ... I think every girl, every woman goes through that." Vander Leahy says the campaign is already working. She got an email from a young woman who said that the online posts have inspired her to seek treatment for her eating disorder. "She wrote: 'Thank you for helping save my life,' and man, that just moved me to tears," she said. We all need to be gentler and kinder to ourselves each and every day. It isn't easy, but it is worth it. How do you keep yourself positive? What do you do to maintain (or attain) body confidence?
