Nicki Minaj Talks Body Image and Taylor Swift Beef

During an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America" at Rumsey Playfield, Central Park with journalist Lara Spencer, rapper/singer Nicki Minaj spoke up about the much discussed Twitter drama surrounding herself and singer Taylor Swift over the recent VMA nominations. She explained that she "...spoke to Taylor Swift yesterday on the phone," and that "[Swift] was super super sweet and she apologized." The feud came about on Tuesday, July 21st, from a comment Minaj made on Twitter regarding her dismay of "Anaconda" not receiving a nod from the VMAs for Video of the Year, saying "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year." Swift, whose video for "Bad Blood" made the cut, was less than impressed with Minaj's comment, as she felt it was a personal jab against her white, thin body. She responded to Minaj's comment with, "I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.." Minaj whose comment about image made for days of disagreement on Twitter, told "Good Morning America" that her goal is to have "...both images for girls. We can't have only one type of body glorified in the media, because it just makes girls even more insecure than we already are." During the Twitter feud, Minaj made a comment about race, saying "Nothing I said had to do with Taylor. So what jabs? White media and their tactics. So sad. That's what they want." So whose in the wrong here? Swift stabs back at Minaj for what she thought was a personal jab, yet Minaj brings up body image and race as excuses for why she didn't get a nomination.
