Online Retailer Has Slim Model Fit Her Entire Body Into XXXL Pant Leg
In a very odd approach to marketing, an online clothing retailer attempted to sell plus size leggings without a plus size model. Instead, they used a very slim model and squeezed her entire lower body into one single leg.
AliExpress is the name of the company whose leggings sparked debate on Twitter and Reddit.
"New for this season! Leggings for people so grossly fat that one leg is the size of the entire lower two thirds of someone who isn't the size of a small planet!" joked one commenter.
"This has to be fake." said another.
It's not only the bizarre display of the products that is getting people up in arms, but the wording on some of the items. For example, one product is titled a 'Fat Big Girl Bikini'. The body-shaming accusations are threatening the fate of the site, which also sells everything from electronics to motorcycles. The site appears to be loosely translated into English, so perhaps some of it's offences were unintentional.
The photos of the leggings (which are unfortunately labeled 'Big Size Women Pants') are still a mystery. What advertising team could have said yes to such a concept? AliExpress has not commented on the pictures nor apologized to customers.
What is your take on this issue? Do you find these pictures offensive?
