Pain-Killing Foods #17: Peppermint

Peppermint isn't just a delicious flavor of gum, but it's also one of the best pain killing foods you can find! Mint leaves make a wonderful tea that can help to soothe stomach pains, and you'll find that taking peppermint oil can be nearly as effective at dealing with abdominal pain and spasms as the drugs currently sold in pharmacies. The compounds in peppermint help to relax your intestines, letting trapped gas escape. If you've got gas and bloating, it's a good idea to try peppermint tea or peppermint oil. For breastfeeding mothers, peppermint oil can reduce nipple pains and reduce the risk of cracks in the nipples. The treatment is effective for up to two months! Tension headaches can also be treated by peppermint. Simply add a few drops of peppermint oil into an oil burner and inhale the scent, or rub a few drops onto your wrist. For muscle spasms and pains, massage peppermint oil into the aching parts and feel the relief almost immediately!
