Pain-Killing Foods #4: Salmon

If you are trying to be healthy, you'll find that salmon is one of those foods that deserve a place in your diet! Not only is it one of the best sources of protein, but it's also rich in healthy fats that will do wonders for your body--including help you deal with pain. Salmon contains Omega-3 fatty acids, a type of polyunsaturated fat that has powerful anti-inflammatory benefits. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="520"] Source: simplyrecipes.com[/caption] One study used Omega-3 fatty acids as an alternative to Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) to help participants deal with the chronic pain in their neck and back. Over the course of 3 months, participants took 1200 mg of Omega-3 fatty acids per day, and the study discovered that Omega-3 fatty acids helped to deal with pain AS EFFECTIVELY as ibuprofen and other NSAIDs. What makes Omega-3 so awesome is the fact that there are NONE of the side effects common with NSAIDs. Salmon is one of the best foods to eat if you suffer from joint pain, particularly joint pain associated with autoimmune disorders and arthritis.
