A Perfect Breakfast in 5 Minutes Flat
My dad makes the BEST breakfast. He calls in an "Egg-In-A-Hole." Basically, it is a piece of toast with the middle cut out. But, you place one egg in the middle and fry it. Voila! Sounds simple, right? And it is even more tasty than you could ever imagine! Also, you get your carbs and your protein, too. Here is our family recipe:
Ingredients
- 1 slice of wheat toast
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp butter
- salt/pepper to taste
- Cut a hole in the middle of the bread using a cookie cutter. Or you can manually dig a hole out (which is what I do a lot of the time).
- Pat 1/2 tsp of butter on each side of the bread.
- Place the bread slice in a skillet over medium heat.
- Immediately drop the egg into the hole.
- If you like your egg yolks runny, let sit for 2 minutes and then carefully flip.
- If you hate runny egg yolks (like I do), then after the egg is dropped, take your spatula and break the yolk. Then allow it to sit for 3-4 minutes.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Enjoy!
