Perfect Conditions: A Myth Created by the Unmotivated

June 28, 2013 1 min read

"If you wait for the perfect conditions you will never start" is a catch phrase that has been floating around the internet for quite some time. Although it is probably overused and a tad corny it is completely true. I couldn't tell you how many times I've heard people say, "I was going to workout but it was *insert unideal weather condition here*". This excuse may seem valid to the individuals using it but to me its got me asking, what are perfect conditions? For me the perfect running conditions would be hot, sunny and with a slight breeze but not enough to dry the sweat on your body (ick!). However some people may hate running in the heat - well bring a water bottle or do a workout that doesn't require your heart rate to be up so high. I for one hate running in the cold, it hurts my lungs - so I dress in layers and drink room temperature water. Perhaps rain isn't your thing? Invest in a light jacket or just enjoy the fact that you aren't getting completely sweaty because the rain is washing it off. Or hey I don't know maybe do a DailyHiit workout, you know the ones you can do INSIDE. Too windy? Perfect! Resistance training without the equipment! So enough with blaming the weather for your lack of motivation. Get out there and embrace the elements, they will only make you work harder and achieve greater results!
