Postpartum Workout: Day 1
It's official! I am 6 weeks postpartum, and I have been released to work out. JEEZ am I excited! I couldn't wait to wake up this morning and get my workout on at bodyrock.tv. I was so bummed that I couldn't start the 30 day challenge when everyone else did.
But now that I have been released, I started realizing that my body wasn't the same. First, I woke up with a splitting headache. Something that has been extremely common the last 6 weeks. My doctor shared with me that it is due to my hormones changing. They make me just want to sleep all day long, but I mustered myself out of bed this morning. (My daughter has been sleeping better, but those late night feedings will keep you exhausted.)
As I prepped to workout this morning I didn't just face the challenge of my headache, but realized that my body is not the same! I did a total body workout and then a cardio workout. I only did 20 minutes total. I didn't want to work my abs specifically, because it's like I NEVER had abs. I used to be hardcore into pilates/yoga. My core used to be strong. I am sitting there looking at my abs wondering where they have gone.
HOLY MOLY it kicked my BUTTTTTTTT! The kind where your whole body is in a little bit of shock. I was told by my doctor to take it easy on myself, and I didn't feel like at the time that I pushed too hard. But now my legs feel like jelly and my arms feel like you can't pick them up. I think I only did like 10 pushups although the video did more. (Please don't judge me too harshly, I did work out almost everyday of my pregnancy, but due to health issues most of it I was limited to walking.)
With that said, my headache is gone, and my body is back on route. I am extremely excited about this and getting my workout on through bodyrock.tv!
