A Quick and Easy Way to Predict Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the world today! Statistics show that:
  • 12% of women will suffer from invasive breast cancer
  • Nearly 235,000 cases of breast cancer were discovered in 2014
  • Nearly 2,400 men were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014
  • 40,000 women die from breast cancer every year
  • Nearly 30% of cancers in women are breast cancers
As you can see, not something to take lightly! It's why your doctor recommends that you get a mammogram every couple of years, in order to detect cancer early. Sadly, mammograms just aren't as accurate as you might like. Mammography tests are only about 75% accurate, with many false positives or missed cancer--up to 2,000 cases last year in just the United Kingdom! The test examines the blood for compounds that indicate that a person has the "metabolic profile" to develop cancer. Cancer cells leak chemicals into the blood that should not be there, so examining the blood for those chemicals and compounds is a good way to detect cancer. This method has been used to diagnose lymphoma, leukemia, and other forms of cancer. The test is 80% effective, a drastic improvement over mammography test. Best of all, it can predict the presence of breast cancer up to 5 years in advance. Thanks to this warning, women will be able to take steps to treat/prevent the cancer before it becomes serious. Of course, the test still has to undergo more clinical trials before it is accepted and put into circulation. But all in all, it looks like it could be the effective new way to predict and prevent breast cancer! Featured Image Source: http://www.drdabbah.com/
