Research Points Out the Health Risks You Could Face if You Stayed in Bed and Ate Pizza All Week

September 24, 2015 1 min read

Do you ever wake up and think, "You know, I think I'll just stay in bed today..."? Often times, that can lead to a whole lot of takeout and TV. And, it can set a bad tone for the rest of your week, even causing you to repeat the same routine day by day. Though many of us have full-time jobs that keep us from doing such a thing, there are plenty of times we can probably all admit we stayed in, snuggled up and ate whatever we wanted for too many days in a row. From vacations to sick days, it can certainly happen. But a whole week of staying in bed filling up on pizza and burgers? No one actually does that, right? What if someone did in the name of science? pizza Researchers at Temple University conducted a study of the detriments of this behaviour by having volunteers eat 6,000 calories worth of burgers and pizza for seven days and banning them from taking on any exercising. The findings? It's really bad for you. On average, the participants gained over 7.5 pounds, their glucose levels skyrocketed and they consequently developed insulin resistance, which can lead to type 2 diabetes. The takeaway? It's definitely important to consume pizza and burgers in moderation! And as for your exercise routine? Keep it a habit. What do you think of these findings?
