Research Suggests Marilyn Monroe Wore A Size 00!
Marilyn Monroe has often been a symbol for the way that beauty standards have changed over the decades. The bodacious blonde rose to fame in the late 1940s, and was an icon of film, fashion and sexuality.
It was always thought that Marilyn wore a US size 12, but new research is disputing this. The Gentlemen Prefer Blondes star could actually have been as tiny as a size 00.
This is because sizing has changed drastically in the past 50 or so years. While the clothes Marilyn wore adorned the double digit label of 12, what that number represented was not the size we associate it with today.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology and the American Society of Testing and Materials created these graphs to illustrate the way that size charts have evolved over time.
The chart proves that if Marilyn were alive today, her 5'5" and 118 pound frame would have fit comfortably into a size 4 bust and a size 0 waist! The legendary star's weight did fluctuate over time, but she was never as large as once speculated.
